Mahesh Elkunchwar is one of India’s leading playwrights and screenwriters, writing primarily in Marathi. With more than twenty plays to his name, his work has profoundly influenced modern Indian theater and film. In 2014, he received the Sangeet Natak Akademi Fellowship, India’s highest honor in the performing arts.
