Fady Joudah is a Palestinian-American physician, poet, and translator. He is the author of The Earth in the Attic. Born in Austin, Texas, and raised in Libya and Saudi Arabia, he studied medicine in Georgia and Texas and worked with Doctors Without Borders in Zambia and Sudan. His poetry and translations have introduced major Palestinian and Arabic-language writers to English readers, including Mahmoud Darwish and Ghassan Zaqtan.
