Lu Zhi (1914–1971), originally named Lü Jialian, was a native of Hengshan County, Shaanxi Province (today part of Hengshan District, Yulin City, Shaanxi). He joined the communist revolutionary movement in 1928 and subsequently held numerous important positions within the Communist Party and government at the county, municipal, and provincial levels.
