Emily Pawley
Emily Pawley (PhD, University of Pennsylvania, History and Sociology of Science, 2009) is the Walter E. Beach ’56 Chair in Sustainability Studies and associate professor of history at Dickinson College. Her interests lie in environmental history, landscape, the history of food and food production, and the history of science. She is the author of The Nature of the Future: Agriculture, Science, and Capitalism in the Antebellum North (Chicago, 2020). Her articles have featured in journals including Journal of the Early Republic, Science as Culture, and Osiris.
