František Švantner

František Švantner (1912–1950) was a naturalist Slovak prose writer who drew on the myths and mystery of the mountainous countryside in which he grew up. Švantner worked as a teacher in Slovakia and then, briefly, as a school principal, before dying of a brain tumor at the age of thirty-eight.
