Ulla von Brandenburg

Water Trick Mask Shadows Orange Earth Works

With Essays by Ida Soulard
Interview with Stephan Dillemuth

This monograph explores the colorful, theatrical world of Ulla von Brandenberg, including her newest immersive installation.

German artist Ulla von Brandenburg creates multimedia works in a unique mixture of theatrical settings, object art, and performance. In her immersive installations, the boundaries between reality and illusion, interior and exterior, are blurred—just as they are in this colorful volume.

From films, textile works, dance, and song to literature, circus, and spiritualism, von Brandenburg’s work blends diverse media to reflect on the conditions of human existence, both on the individual and collective level. This monograph offers a comprehensive overview of her work since 2018, including her latest piece developed specifically for her latest exhibition.
